Working Together for Best Value

Focusing on the involvement of elected members, managers and employees in the Best Value process, this project, sponsored by the Improvement and Development Association, Association for Public Service Excellence, Local Government Information Unit, UNISON, Transport and General Workers Union, GMB Union and the Employers Organisation, included:

• an assessment of the extent of involvement of a range of groups in Best Value
• evidence of different methods of involvement
• the results of a comprehensive survey of local authorities and trade union branches
• key findings and examples from 11 detailed case studies
• guidance on good practice for local authorities and trade unions
